Dr. Christopher Belkofer is licensed as a professional counselor and is a board-certified art therapist with over 15 years of experience. While he works with clients of all ages, he specializes in working with children, adolescents, and adults for who traditional approaches of talk therapy may not be effective. In addition, he often employs the creative process and various forms of expressive media to promote effective coping skills, personal expression, self-regulation, and other resources that may lead to improved mental health. Chris received his Masters in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his Doctorate in Expressive Therapies from Lesley University.
In addition to clinical work, Dr. Belkofer is a full professor who has been teaching and training graduate level art therapists for over ten years. As a published author, researcher, and international speaker, he brings a knowledge of contemporary theories and applied research, a commitment to learning, and an enthusiasm for the bridging of art and science. A practicing musician and visual artist, his own experiences as an artist strongly influence his approach.
